Ꮲ Ꭱ E F A C Ꭼ . ALTHOUGH the theme of this work is old, the method of discussing it is new, that is, this is the first time that it has been handled in this manner. The style of the work at first sight may be thought unnecessarily tautologous; but on considering the classical technicallity of the method of discussion necessitated by the nature of the subject, and the present low scale of intelligence among the people, and their inability to follow a train of connected arguments, the translator as well as the original author have thought it incumbent on them to make the subject as plain as they possibly could. The translator is conscious that he has not deviated from the spirit of the original work, which in itself is quite complete. In one place, however, the illustrations in the original being unintelligeble in this part of India, the translator has added some more familiar ones.
