१३वा ] वेद व वदागें. सायणभाष्याची उपयुक्तता. त्याकडे फारसे लक्ष दिले नाहीं. तरच कांहीं फायदा झाला तर होईल. कारण त्यांच्या म्हणण्यांत कांही अर्थच नाही. मोक्षमुलर पण्डितासारखे जे खरे मर्मज्ञ आ- हेत त्यांस सायणाच्या टीकेची वास्तविक योग्यता कळत असून, ते त्यास वेदार्थस्फोटनाचा आधारस्तंभच मानतात. या टी- केचें खरें महत्व, व तत्संबंधी लो- कांचें अज्ञान आणि दुराग्रह, यांचें हुबेहुब चित्र आपल्या डोळ्यांपुढे उभे राहावें एतदर्थ, पण्डित मोक्षमुलर यांचाच अभिप्राय या खालीं' देतों. मोक्षमूलर यांनी सुमारें पंचवीस तीस वर्षे अश्रांत परिश्रम घेऊन ऋग्वेदाचें इंग्रजी भाषांतर पुरे केले, त्या- १ “ I do not wonder that others who have more recently entered on the study of the Vedas are inclined to speak disparagingly of the scholastic interpretations of Sàyana.
