राष्ट्रीय शिक्षण. The great thing in all education is to make our nervous system our ally instead of our enemy. We must make automatic and habitual, as early as possible, as many useful actions as we can, and as carefully guard against the growing into ways, that are likely to be dis- advantageous. The more details of our daily life we can hand over to the effo tless custody of autom&tion, the more our higher powers of mind will be set free for their own proper work. Do not pre: ch too much to your pupils, or abound in good talk in the abstract. Lie in wait rather for the practical opportunities, be prompt to seize those that pass, and thus at one operation get your pupils both to think, to feel, to do. The srokes of behaviour are what give the new set to the character and work the good habits into its or, anic tissue.
