येते. ३० स० १८५७ च्या बंडाने झांशीच्या राणीची कीर्ति अजरा- मर करून ठेविली आहे, परंतु त्याच घराण्यांत आणखीही कित्येक स्त्रिया चरित्रलेखनयोग्य सांपडतील. झांशीच्या घराण्याबरोबरचे दुसरें घराणे गोविंदपंत बुंदेल्यांचे होय. त्यांतील राणी रखमाबाई ही सागर प्रांतांत अद्यापि प्रसिद्ध आहे. ह्या सर्व स्त्रियांची माहिती उपलब्ध होऊन ती चरित्ररूपाने वाचकांस सादर झाली, तर महाराष्ट्र- लोकांच्या स्त्रियाही राजकारणांत व इतर उत्तम गुणांत कांहीं कमी योग्यतेच्या नव्हत्या असे मोठया गर्वाने ह्मणतां येईल असो. वर निर्दिष्ट केलेल्या सुप्रसिद्ध महाराष्ट्रस्त्रियांच्या मालिके- वरून इतके सिद्ध होते की, महाराष्ट्रस्त्रियांच्या अंगी शौर्य व राज- कारणचातुर्य वगैरे अनेक गुण पूर्वी चांगल्या त-हेनें वसत होते. व महाराष्ट्र स्त्रियांची योग्यता महाराष्ट्रराज्यवैभवाच्या भव्य कीर्तिप्रमाणे विशेष होती. सर जॉन मालकम ह्यांनी महाराष्ट्रस्त्रिया संबंधाचे एके ठिकाणी यथायोग्य वर्णन दिले आहे; ते संग्राह्य व वाचनीय असल्या- मुळे त्याचे अवतरण येथे घेतल्यावांचून राहवत नाही. ते लिहितात:- The females, both of the Brahmin and Shu. arn Mahrattas have generally speaking, when their husbands are Princes and Chiefs, great influence, and mix, not only by their power over individuals, but some times, as has been shown, personally in affairs of the State.
