८ वा.] नासिरउद्दीन हैदर. awww मुख्य बेगमांच्या खर्चाकरितां, त्याने ता० १ मार्च इ. स. १८२९ रोजी, ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनीस शेकडा पांच टक्के व्याजाप्रमाणे ६२,४०,००० रुपये कर्जाऊ दिले होते, व त्यांच्या व्याजापैकी २६ हजारांची रक्कम त्याने निराळी तोडून दिली होती. नासिरउद्दीन ह्याने सत्कृत्याकडेही कांहीं रक्कम खर्ची घातली होती. त्याने ३ लक्ष रुपये शेकडा ४ टक्के व्याजाप्रमाणे ब्रिटिश रेसिडेंटाच्या ताब्यांत देऊन त्यांचे जे व्याज येईल त्याचा विनियोग अनाथ अंधपंगू लोकांना दानधर्म करण्याकडे करावा, अशी तजवीज केली होती; व दरमहा तीन हजार रुपये लखनौ येथील पाठशाळेकडे लावून दिले होते. ह्याशिवाय त्याने जागजागी दवाखाने स्थापन करून गरीब लोकांकरितां अन्नछत्रे घातली होती. हीच त्याच्या सर्व आयुःक्रमांतील पुण्यकृत्ये होत. नासिरउद्दीन हैदर ह्याचे खासगी चरित्र मि० उइल्यम नाइटन नामक त्याच्या पदरच्या एका युरोपियन चित्रकाराने लिहिले आहे. ह्या पुस्तकास त्याने "पूर्वेकडील राजाचे खाजगी चरित्र" ( Private Life of an Eastern king ) असें नांव दिले आहे. त्यात त्याने a paradise plume, from which strings of pearls were carried over the head. She wore enormous gold ear-rings, to which strings of pearls and emeralds were attached, each pearl larger than the one above it. She had a nose-ring also, with large round pearls and emeralds; and her necklaces, were too numerous to be described. She wore long sleeves open at the elbow, and her dress was a full petticoat with a light body attached, and open only at the throat. She had several persons to bear her train when she walked, and her women stood behind her couch to arrange her head-dress, when, in moving, her pearls got entangled in the immense robe of scarlet and gold she had thrown around her."
