 (11) These two last passages taken together show that Sayana is no safe guide as to this word, as indeed he does not profess to be. 112.
 But those who profess to be safe guides do not seem to be in any way wiser; for says Peterson- But the meaning of is uncertain. 112.
 Again, it is a logic only worthy of a Peterson to say that because a person gives different explana- tions of a word in different passages, he confesses that he is no safe guide as to the word.
 (12) The alternate explanation which Saya suggests for ब्रुवाण: need not detain us. 118.
 (13) Sayana's interpretation seems very fanciful. 133.
 Peterson adds however-But there is no agree- ment as to the real meaning of the phrase. 133.
 (14) Sayana does not know whether to उषसां with इषण्यन् or with वृषा. 134.
 Do you know why Peterson is pleased to give this precious certificate to Sayana? Well, it is for no other reason but that Sayana here happens to suggest alternate constructions.
