Harmony =स्वरसंवाद, स्वरैक्य, अनेक विजातीय परंतु रक्तिजनक स्वरांचा एकाच काळीं उच्चार करून तान किंवा चीज गाण्याची किंवा वाजविण्याची पद्धत. ही आर्यसंगीतांत प्रचलित नाही. Melody = आलाप. एकाच वेळी एकाच स्वराचा उच्चार करून तान किंवा चीज गाण्याची किंवा वाजविण्याची पद्धत f. Rhythm = लय. तालाची आवृत्ति करून अव्याहत चालणारी मात्रांची गति. N. B.:-Harmonic progression हरात्मक श्रेढी, समस्वरश्रेढी, एकतानश्रेढी, गायनश्रेढी. In Sanskrit श्रेणी is used for श्रेढी. In this connection it should be remembered that Arithmetical progression is गणितश्रेणी or व्यक्तश्रेणी, and that Geometrical progression is भूमितिश्रेणी or गुणोत्तरश्रेणी . In this latter equivalent गुणोत्तर is the Sanskrit equivalent for common ratio. In translating the mathematical terms Harmonic analysis, H. function, H. motion, H. pencil, H. points, H. polar, H. ratio, H. resistance, H. section, and H. system, put either of हरात्मक, एकतान, समस्वर, and गायनात्मक for Harmonic, and पृथक्करण = analysis; फल =function; गति =: motion; सूचि = pencil; बिंद = point; ध्रुव = polar; निष्पत्ति = ratio; प्रतिरोध = resistance खण्ड = section; संप्रदाय = system. Thus, Harmonic analysis=हरात्मक -एकतान -समस्वर -गायनात्मक पृथकरण, and so on for other terms.
