ही मदत फारच कमी होती. भाऊरावांनी तसे महाराजांस बोलून दाखविले. तेव्हा महाराजांनी हा मदतीचा पहिला हप्ता आहे असे सांगितले. 'महाराजा सयाजीराव फ्री अॅन्ड रेसिडेन्शिअल हायस्कूल' हे हायस्कूल म्हणजे रयत शिक्षण संस्थेच्या जीवनातील एक क्रांतिकारक वळण होते.
महाराष्ट्राचा भूमिपुत्र असणाऱ्या आणि आपल्या कर्तुत्वाने आंतरराष्ट्रीय मान्यता मिळवलेल्या सयाजीरावांच्या नावाने सुरू झालेली महाराष्ट्रातील ही पहिली संस्था होती. सयाजीरावांनी आपल्या बडोदा संस्थानात शाळा आणि ग्रंथालये यांचा प्रसार करून ज्ञानाचे लोकशाहीकरण केले होते. यासंदर्भात कडियाळ पुढे म्हणतात, “ Lastly, he was the first Indian Prince to allow his subject to taste the fruits of Democracy in his state, When it was asked of His Highness, "How his State would fare after his death?" he immediately answered, "It will depend upon the wisdom and goodness of those at the helm of the affairs of the State and the people's desire, If the foundation of good administration is laid in the State once, the State would continue to make progress. There need not be a cause for fear."
