 Shrimant Gangadhar Rao Raghunath Rao Gambhir Rao, Sirkango, Deshmukh, Deshpande, and Second Class Sardar, Savda, East Khandesh and Nimar, is the descendant of a family that was founded six hundred and fifty (650) years ago by Gurudas, Son of Arjun Naik. He was a prime favourite of the Emperor Mubarik, who conferred on him the Deshmukhi and Deshpandeship of Asirgarh, Savda, Manjrod, Varangaon, and Dangari Parganas, in Khandesh and Nimar. He was succeeded by his son Gangoji, who took a leading part in establishing peace between the Bhils and the Pindaris, and supplied provisions to the Imperial troops. For these services, the hereditary Jamedari and Sirkangoship of one hundred and twenty- three (123) villages in Khandesh, and the title of "Gambhir Rao" were conferred on him by the Emperor Allauddin, together with all the honours of Sardar. Keshar Rao Gambhir Rao, the grandfather of the present Sardar, gave every assistance in the introduction of Surveys and Settlements into his districts, and otherwise aided the Government in introducing Reforms and Improvements, and, in consideration of these services, the Government of India, in 1909, conferred the honour of a Sardarship on the present head of the family. This was the first time that the Indian Government had given the title of Sardar to the Khandesh District.
 Sardar Gangadhar Rao Deshmukh, as a member of the District Local Board, and President of the Savda Muncipality, fer some time,' has rendered valuable services in the cause of sanitation and general improvements of the town of Savda, and these services have been recognized by Government. He has also been honoured by Government by conferring upon him the powers of a Magistrate of the second class. He also holds the powers of Dharmadhikari for the whole of Savda pa gana and has been recently honoured by His Holiness the Shankaracharya of the Sankeshwar and Karvir Maths by conferring upon him the title of "Dhairyodarya Chudamani".
