२६४ 'साक्षात्परिचय ' antiquity, Panini's Grammar as well as the Grammars of. the Rishis who had preceded him could, not there- fore, properly and legitimately discuss the principles and Etymology of the Vaidik or Sanskrit language. 6 Moreover, Panini's Grammar being in the form of a syllabus of Sanskrit grammar was evidently intended to assist oral instruction & the memory of the student. This is one of the main reasons why did not refer to the theory of the formation of the words such as अहम्, त्वम् ्ं सः, अह्ः, अच, अस्, or to that of the forms of the declination and conjugation some of which have been already mentioned above and will also be referred to here in this sequal. In his grammatical scheme Panini has relegated the forms of declination of अहम्, त्वम् &c. to the seven chapter of his grammar by way of special rules but as already said above he inaugarated his grand scientific grammatical scheme with tha Sutras" - "&c. under which the forms were really formed and which practically showed that the grammar of the Vedic Language has been founded on the T. S. and the fourteen as derived from it. The forms in the singular number of the above cases of the personal pronominal word अहम् have been derived from its final letter " " & the duals and plurals of those cases have been derived from आवाम् and अस्मान्.
