N. B.:--The present Hindi is the modern corrupted form of the admixture of मागधी and शौरसेनी, the two pa languages derived from the ancient Sanskrit. It is divided into (1) Eastern Hindi and (2) Western Hindi; The Eastern Hindi again into (a) औधी, (b) बघेली, and (c) छत्तिसगडी; the Western, into शुद्ध हिंदुस्थानी, अपभ्रष्ट हिंदुस्थानी, वृज, कनोजी, बुंदेली, बांगरू and दक्षिणी.
