Famous ( fa'-mus ) [ L. famosus,-fama, fame. See Fame.] a. celebrated in fame, renowned, much talked of (used either in a good or & bad sense, chiefly the former; often followed by for)नामांकित, प्रख्यात, विख्यात, प्रसिद्ध, सुप्रसिद्ध, यशवंत ( in bakhar ), विश्रुत, महशूर, नांव पुष्कळांच्या तोडी असलेला (मनुष्य). Fan ( fan) [ A. S. fann, Fr. van, both from L. vannus, a fan.]n. an instrument uesed for producing artificial currents of air; as, (a) an instrument for cooling the person made of feathers, paper", silk, &c. पंखा m, विझणा m, विंझण , व्यजन n (S.). (b) any instrument for winnowing grain, blowing a fire, etc., fan-blower सुपn, झटकणे n, झडपण n, पखा (fig.) m, वारवण्याचे साधनn , made of deer skin धावत्र n. (S.), सुपलीf , शूर्प n, ( deprecative or diminutive) सपडेंn ( dim. ). (c) something in the Form of a fan when spread ( as a peacock's tail) पखा m (fig.), उघडली असतां पंख्याचे आकाराची दिसणारी वस्तु f, व्यजनाकार वस्तु f.
