training. We are still struggling, 35 girls have taken training for nursing, 90 take training for driving, 90 for computer and 90 have taken training for the beauty parlour. 469 girls have agreed to undergo business initiatives workshops. We are sure that these girls will stand on their feet. We were solving every question one by one and that was making our future path clear. There is still a lot of work to do. Don't know whether it will ever end or no! Girls are still suppressed, they are not even considered and their issues and concerns are neglected completely. In shelter homes there are no female wardens, thus giving an open field for abusers to abuse girls. This question wasn't even in the picture until we decided to put it up. There are many committees that are set up by the government to curb child-marriages, there is a strict law too, but everything is just on paper. There is no implementation of it at all on the ground level. There should be a Village child protection committee and it needs to efficient and strong. There is no point in having a law, or a committee if there is no will to implement the law by the members of the committee. Many of the members don't even know most of the time that they are a part of such committees. It's the main duty of such committees to stop crimes against girls and children in general. They have all the necessary power and authority to file complaints, and if they fail to do so, we citizens have the power to hold them accountable too, in courts. For me, people are always much more important than the system that pretends to work for them. People slowly but steadily understand if someone really wants to work for their benefit or for society's overall benefit. People become your family and they treat you as one of them. The best example of it was the bike rally arranged by boys from Shirur-Kasar to Beed on the occasion of the Independence Day in 2017. Everyone was wearing the t-shirts on which it was written 'l oppose child marriage'. Boys were so involved in their work that they went to every village which was on the road to educate people. It was wonderful seeing those boys working for their fellow girls and sisters. We weren't only empowering girls, we were empowering the entire generation of youngsters.
