My motivation behind translating this book... I went to Satara for my dad's function in January, as usual decided to stay at Varsha aunt's place. I have always been a huge admirer of Varsha aunt's work and that's why when Varsha ji asked me to do this translation, I was ready from the word go. She has always inspired me to work for the society despite adverse circumstances and surroundings. When I started reading this book, I could feel the entire journey as I have seen how fierce Varsha aunt becomes when it comes to her work. While reading and translating some of her horrifying experiences, I had Goosebumps, and even, at times, tears! But as painful some of the chapters were, some were equally inspiring, and that's the whole intention of this book. It's to wake people up from their apathy, to make them realise the many layers the society holds. It explains that the law alone, can't change the society nor it can prevent people from committing crimes. I am glad that I could contribute in spreading such efforts to more people. This book is a weapon to fight misogyny, which is so prevalent in our society. By Hrishikesh Patil
