cow or buffalo. These families used to send them food in the evening every day. But due to the long distance, food used to get spoiled. Considering this issue, we started providing to the people at the animal shelter. The entire food giving network was managed by Asha workers. We used to deliver food and many of the times, we sat with them to have food together. Because of all this, we were developing close relations with the villagers. We started understanding their concerns, problems, mentality, habits closely. We were creating the base for our work. Now when I think about that time period, I feel, nature gave us this opportunity! Understanding drought, water shortage, food shortage, agricultural distress and people's problems related to it made us one of them. Humanity was above everything and because of our efforts to reduce the effects of drought, people started trusting us. They weren't afraid of us, they knew that we were up to something good, good for them. Nature built these relations with them, which are still intact!
