government in its record didn't show the actual reality. People weren't considered, there was no human face to the government reports. The condition of women was worst and there was no one to even consider their problems. We were stunned after knowing that many women had lost haemoglobin so much that they didn't get periods for 6-7 months. We called doctors for their check-ups and for giving them proper treatment. personally couldn't bear the pain of watching the women of Beed and Parali suffer so much. It hurt me so much that I cried during our meeting for UFFPA in Delhi. Dhanashri and Shobhana, the project leaders of the UNFPA, couldn't hold back their emotions too. Our wish was to start a 'community kitchen' and for that we needed funds, therefore, we approached wealthy people who would donate. 'Crompton Greaves' generously helped us. I decided not to visit the drought-prone areas until we received the necessary help because I couldn't do anything there alone. They told us that they received water through water-tankers only twice a week. One weird thing was, there was a lake nearby village which had some water in it. But the government wasn't using it. I was wondering why then the government was using water-tankers? The answer lied in the large distance between the lake and the village. The water needed to be lifted twice in order to deliver it to the village with the help of 2 motors and a long pipeline and for that village needed funds. The government hadn't
