N. B.-Mr. Candy renders “To work for one'sbread" by हातावर संसार करणे, हातावर पोट भरणे. This is, in our opinion, wrong. "To live from hand to mouth" is the correct rendering of हातावर पोट भरणे, हातावर संसार करणे. An educated Englishman will never say To beg for one's bread,' the correct mode of expression is to beg one's bread.' So also will he never say 'to eat the bread of;' the correct idiom is to eat the salt of. "To destroy or injure one's bread' is utterly un-English. “To deprive one of
